Brian Chew

Brian became a Software Engineer in Test thanks to the strong educational support he received after moving from Hong Kong to San Diego with limited English. Programs like ESL and summer school helped him thrive, and he later realized that not all communities have access to similar resources. That’s what drew him to Catalyst:Ed. He’s excited to use his technical skills to help bridge those gaps in education.

Outside of work, Brian has a wide range of hobbies. At home, he has a full pottery studio where he throws and slipcasts ceramics. He’s also into board games, bouldering, badminton, and volunteering at animal shelters.

Brian dreams of opening a cat sanctuary coffee shop, making all the cups and bowls by hand, and serving beautiful lattes. He's also a proud foodie who loves trying new things and values long conversations with friends, family, and new people over good meals.
