Justin Smith

Justin Smith is a strategy and operations leader known for improving complex systems, strengthening organizational effectiveness, and driving results at scale. He brings a track record of leading cross-functional work, building high-performing teams, and translating data into clear, actionable strategy.

Most recently, Justin served as Executive Director of Assessment, Accountability, and Compliance at Houston Independent School District, where he led teams responsible for data governance, reporting, enrollment systems, and performance strategy across more than 270 campuses. His work focused on building reliable systems, improving data integrity, and supporting leaders in making informed, high-stakes decisions.

Prior to that, Justin was Managing Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment at YES Prep Public Schools, where he led large-scale strategy and operations efforts, including launching new campuses and developing systems to support growth, efficiency, and community engagement.

Justin is known for bringing clarity to ambiguity, building trust across stakeholders, and balancing strategic thinking with strong execution. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Education Management from the Yale School of Management.

Outside of his professional work, Justin is a devoted husband to his wife Ashley and a proud father to Lily-Grace, Madilyn, Preston, and Silas. He values family, faith, and building a life rooted in purpose, and brings that same intentionality to the way he leads and serves others.
